 Mexican painter and photographer from Coyoacan Mexico. Although she moved in the environment of the great Mexican muralists of that time and shared his ideals, Frida Kahlo created a deeply native and metaphorical painting style derived from his exalted sensitivity and various painfully events that marked his life.

The suffering, pain and suffering life from an early age was one of the aspects to highlight beautifully. André Breton came across the work of Frida Kahlo, the Mexican states was a spontaneous surrealist and invited to exhibit in New York and Paris, the latter in the city that did not have a great success. Frida never felt close to the surrealism in his works.

The suffering life from an early age was one of the characteristics on her specific style and bring realistic focus in her job.  At the beginning of Frida’s carrier  André Breton invited Frida to an exhibition  in New York and Paris, that did not have a great success. They considered  the work of Frida Kahlo as a spontaneous surrealist but, Frida never felt close to the surrealism in his works.

Frida had found a votive offering representing the collision between a train and a bus; a girl wounded lay on the tracks and the image of the Virgen de los Dolores hung over the scene. Adding to the girl about her own eyebrows and signs to the train and the bus, it became the representation of his own accident. At the bottom he wrote: “Husbands C. Guillermo Kahlo and Matilde Kahlo give thanks to the Virgin of Sorrows for saving her daughter Frida’s accident in 1925 at the corner of Cuahutemozin and Calzada de Tlalpan”.

As the fame and reputation of Rivera her husband increase in Mexico also grown up in United States, emerged orders and demand of Diego and Frida’s work  in the neighbor country, and the couple move their  residence to USA between 1931 and 1934 and spending most of the time they live in  New York and Detroit principally because of the political environment Mexico.

Frida was incapacitated in bed because Frida’s many operations and she command to place a mirror on the ceiling of his room above his bed and began to make self-portraits. Expressing their ideas and conditions in her job she developed a style of expression as Mexican “authentic” and emphasizing her mestizo features ( Spanish, Indian and German blood). The nationalist ideology is captured in her works for example in her Self-Portrait with Monkey (1943, Natasha Gelman Collection, Mexico City), where the figure is cut off on jungle surrounded by animals, plants or the incorporation of  images of  the pre-Columbian culture.

In 1929 he married the muralist artist Diego Rivera; three years later she suffered an abortion that hit deep down her delicate sensitivity and inspired two of his most valuable works: Henry Ford Hospital and Frida and abortion, whose complex symbolism is known by the explanations of the artist.

Despite the accident, Frida was in her second pregnancy but she lost the baby again,  his fractured pelvis could not accept the development of a child. The traumatic experience of a new abortion was the origin of the picture.
